Every day
Last on, first off. Perfume, hairspray and lotion go on before jewellery. Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Store each piece in its pouch so stones do not scratch each other.
Water and heat
Remove fashion jewellery for the shower, the pool, the sea and the gym. Heat and steam loosen stones and cloud a protective coat.
Finishes
Oxidised pieces are meant to look darkened. Do not polish them back to bright silver. Pearl and glass-pearl pieces dislike vinegar and alcohol. Anti-tarnish describes a coat that slows tarnish. It is not a waterproof claim.
